Works in Progress Series Lecture:
The Maritime Imaginary

In celebration of the new publication, Water Lines: Poems Inspired by theWater Marks Exhibition at the Maier Museum of Art, the Museum is hosting a special “Works in Progress” lecture by Associate Professor of English, Heidi Kunz. In 2006 the National Endowment for the Humanities sponsored Professor Kunz’s study of The American Maritime People at the Frank C. Munson Institute of American Maritime Studies, Mystic Seaport, where she investigated interdisciplinary approaches to “fathoming the ocean.” Kunz is particularly interested in the ways U.S. writers use the sea in their works to convey and to question ideas about national identity.
