Paul Ryan is a painter, art critic, and professor of art in the Department of Art and Art History at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA. He authored the exhibition catalog essay “Teaching to Unlearn: Paradox in Studio Art Pedagogy,” for the current exhibition at the Maier Museum of Art, Teaching Begins Here: Recent Work by Randolph College Art Faculty.
