“First Fridays” opening reception for Women and the Maier: Creating Herstory

Join us Friday, June 4, 5-8 p.m. as we celebrate the opening of the exhibition

Women and the Maier: Creating Herstory

Curated by Emily Hanson ’09, this exhibition highlights some of America’s most important women artists represented in the Maier’s permanent collection, including Louise Bourgeois, Elizabeth Murray, and Nancy Spero. Women and the Maier: Creating Herstory will be on view in Gallery 5 through December 10, 2010.

Also opening June 4 and on view through December 10: Modern and Contemporary Selections from the Permanent Collection.

About the Maier

Randolph College’s nationally recognized Maier Museum of Art features works by outstanding American artists of the 19th and 20th centuries. The College has been collecting American art since 1920 and now holds a collection of several thousand paintings, prints, drawings, and photographs in the Maier's permanent collection. The Museum hosts an active schedule of special exhibitions and education programs throughout the year. Through its programs, internships, museum studies practicums, and class visits, the Maier Museum of Art provides valuable learning opportunities for Randolph students and the community at large.
