Art students at Randolph College may choose a Museum Studies concentration.

The Department of Art offers a Museum Studies concentration. Working closely with the Maier Museum of Art staff, Art Department faculty offer Museum Studies courses, internships, and experiential learning opportunities. Through this program, students learn about the theory and practice of museum operation and gain hands-on experience via practicums and independent study at the Maier Museum of Art. Students working at the Maier Museum of Art are mentored by the Museum’s professional staff.

Recent practicums at the Maier Museum of Art have introduced students to exhibition development and installation, research on the permanent collection, professional registration practices, and issues related to museum education for children.
